Daniel Henkel

Board of Executives, Mayor City of Niceville, PR

Dan is currently the Mayor of Niceville and Commission Chairman of the Niceville Community Redevelopment Association.  Under his leadership, the Niceville CRA is working to revitalize the old downtown area and make it into an old town village with markets and outdoor festival grounds.  Dan also serves on the Okaloosa County League of Cities Board of Directors where he has been the past president of that organization.  Dan retired in 2024 from a national defense company where he served as a program manager and test director for foreign military sales programs testing advanced aircraft defensive systems for US coalition partners.   Dan retired from the Air Force in 2007 after a 29 ½ year career.  He is a decorated combat veteran with 7 tours in support of the Global War on Terrorism and has over 570 hours of combat flying time.  Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Troy State University.
